The Paper Gardens

I've been reading since I was 3, and I haven't seen any reason to stop. I'll read pretty much anything I can get my hands on, though I will admit to a crippling addiction to fantasy and YA books.

The Gateway

The Gateway - Glenn G. Thater Reading some of the descriptions in the book, my first thought was, "This sounds like Lovecraft fanfic." And then Azathoth and R'lyeh were mentioned.

Lovecraft, Glenn Thater is not.

The story is set in a semi-Norse world, which would have made the book slightly more interesting, except I kept getting dragged out of that world every time the gnome used some 20th century slang term.

The wizard and the gnome just got on my nerves. They didn't talk like anyone else in the book, and at least once a chapter the wizard would complain about his weak back, and the gnome would scream at people. They weren't so much comic relief as they were obnoxious.

Nearly half the book is a fight scene. The rest is a lead-up to the fight scene, with previously mentioned Lovecraftian fanfic descriptions.
